Chinese Cedar, Redwood and Western Red Cedar are all in the same family "Cupressaceae" as shown on this link to the USDA's website.
Each of these Genus have shown over hundreds of years of use in multiple interior and exterior applications as well as through durability testing to not only be resistant to bugs such as termites but also rot resistant.
